Turmeric is one of the spices we used in our daily food. It has a scientific name known as Curcuma longa which is based on the name of an important component which is found in turmeric and that is Curcumin. It has many anti inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Curcumin is responsible for the yellow color of turmeric and makes it of great importance for different remedies. It improves the function of beta cells in pancreas resulting in the production of insulin which is responsible to control the sugar levels in blood. Turmeric is also for the regulation of sugar formation in the liver.

Free radical is a group of atoms, which is highly reactive and mostly present in cigarette smoke and chemical wastes. When these free radicals enter our body, they can react with proteins, fats and even DNA of the cells which can cause many serious diseases like cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, early ageing, etc. Turmeric is known as the scavenger of the free radical as it kills the free radicals by controlling the activity of the enzymes which neutralize the free radical.
